Vacation’s Over

I’m back to work after being on vacation. We drove 19 hours each way to visit our relatives in Ohio. I saw my brother and his family as well as my mother-in-law and my husband’s extended family. We had a really great time! I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Ohio, but it is simply beautiful in the summertime. At times going “home” again makes me want to move back. I probably need to visit in the wintertime before I ever make that decision.

But it’s also really great to back in Texas again, my home for the past 22 years. There’s no place I’d rather be right now than here, joining God in the adventure of building this brand new church. I guess it’s true what Dorothy says. There’s no place like home!

Life Lessons

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

8. It’s OK to get angry with God. God can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

True Courage

“Courage is not limited to the battlefield. The real tests of courage are much quieter. They are the inner tests, like enduring pain when the room is empty or standing alone when you’re misunderstood.”
