What To Expect

Nearly everyone wants to know what to expect when they go someplace new. You most likely have questions like, “What type of church is this? What will we do? What should I wear? What will the worship gatherings be like? Where does the church meet? Will I be accepted?” and so on. These are terrific questions!

WHAT TYPE OF CHURCH IS THIS?

New Day is a brand new Christian church that engages, energizes, and empowers lives with God’s forgiving love. We are a United Methodist Church in the Central Texas Conference. We strive to better understand what it means to live out our faith through our words and actions.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

Worship and pray. Invest. Invite. Some people will participate on the worship team or prayer chain. Some will get involved in social, service, and study activities. All will support New Day financially (I’m being optimistic, OK?). And all of us will never stop inviting others to begin new, positive, life-giving relationships with God and with one another. The persons who become part of New Day now will be on the ground floor of what will prove to be one of the greatest adventures of their lives: launching a brand new church from scratch.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

At New Day you can come as you are. Wear what you want. If you feel most comfortable in a dress or suit and tie, wear them. If you prefer to wear a t-shirt and shorts, wear those instead. We really don’t care. We truly believe what the Bible says that “God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face” (and I would add clothes); “God looks into the heart.” If how you look or what you wear doesn’t matter to God, it doesn’t matter to us, either.

WHAT WILL THE WORSHIP GATHERINGS BE LIKE?

The public worship experience will usually be no longer than 1 hour. The atmosphere will be informal and friendly. Electronic multimedia will be used to help you better experience the presence of God. You will also discover a preacher who usually doesn’t wear a dress, hose, or priestly robe. There will be no assigned seats. You can sit down or stand up whenever you want. The messages will be based on a Bible lesson, many times looking at the text, the context, and what’s next in order to apply it to our lives today. At New Day we want you to go from the worship gathering confident that Christ’s presence goes with you and will strengthen you as you face each new day together.

WHERE DOES THE CHURCH MEET?

New Day is located at 1475 Heritage Pkwy, Suite 309. From Highway 287 head west on Heritage Parkway about 1/2 mile OR from E. Broad St. head south on Wisteria about 1 mile past the Mansfield library. We are at the northwest corner of Heritage Parkway and Wisteria. Our worship gatherings are every Sunday at 11 a.m. We also meet in homes and at the church building for conversation groups and team up for service opportunities in Mansfield and neighboring communities.

WILL I BE ACCEPTED?

New Day is a church where you can be yourself. We have persons participating here that are different ages, sexes, races, and backgrounds. There are people who have barely heard of God and those who have heard of God all their lives. And you know what? We all stand on the same ground before God. God’s message of forgiving love is accessible and welcoming to EVERYONE, across the board.
